Real Madrid vs Real Valladolid Preview: Los Blancos’ Proving Ground
Madrid, Todaysgist.com – The second week match of the Spanish League will bring together hosts Real Madrid vs Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Sunday (25/8/2024) evening, at 22.00 WIB.
This event is proof of Madrid’s true strength in front of its supporters.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Mallorca in their opening game of the 2024/25 season, while Real Valladolid got their top-flight campaign back on track with a 1-0 win at home to Espanyol.
In fact, before starting the Spanish League match, Real Madrid appeared promising when they beat Europa League champions Atalanta 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14, 2024. However, the results were less impressive when they drew at Mallorca’s home.
Now the defending La Liga champions Real Madrid must be able to deliver a win at home.
Ancelotti has ruled out making any new signings before the transfer window closes. The Spanish capital club were hit with the news that Jude Bellingham will be out until next month with an injury. Kylian Mbappe and Endrick were the team’s other summer signings.
Valladolid, meanwhile, will be in good spirits after their 1-0 win over Espanyol. Raul Moro scored the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute to secure a vital three points for the hosts.
Paulo Pezzolano’s side, who finished second in the Segunda Division last season, have just secured a return to the top flight.
Valladolid have brought in 10 players during the transfer window. Two of them came from Real Madrid, Juanmi Latasa on a permanent basis and Mario Martin on a season-long loan.
Valladolid have lost their last five league games against Real Madrid, having also been thrashed 6-0 by Los Blancos in their last meeting in April 2023.
In 15 meetings against Madrid in La Liga, Valladolid have lost 13 times.
Team Condition Real Madrid have been hit with news that Bellingham will be out until the end of September with an injury, joining David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga as also absent.
Ferland Mendy is also out due to his red card against Mallorca. Fran Garcia is likely to start at left-back, while Luka Modric is likely to benefit from Bellingham’s absence.
Rodrygo is likely to join Mbappe and Vinicius Jr up front, while Aurelien Tchouameni will feature as a defensive midfielder.
Meanwhile, in Valladolid’s camp, Anuar Tuhami is still out with a hernia problem. The 29-year-old is unlikely to be available for selection until early September.
Andre Ferreira is back in contention after serving a suspension. Kenedy could also recover from a fitness issue. There is a good chance coach Pezzolano will field an unchanged line-up from the first match last week.
Mamadou Sylla, who scored eight league goals last season, should lead the line again, with a 4-5-1 formation that could also include Moro and Amath Ndiaye on the wings.
