Rossi Admits Discussion with Lin Jarvis Discusses Morbidelli’s Future at Yamaha

– Valentino Rossi is capitalizing on his old relationship with Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis amid negotiations over the future of Franco Morbidelli.

Entering 2023, Morbidelli is one of the MotoGP racers most at risk of being kicked out by the Japanese factory team. His contract with Yamaha will expire at the end of this season, and there is no guarantee that his contract will be extended.

But he impressed in the first few rounds. Team Yamaha managing director, Jarvis, to admit that Morbidelli remains their number 1 choice for 2024 even over Toprak Razgatlioglu.

Rossi confirmed that he had spoken to Jarvis, and said, “This is an important moment for Franco. In four of these five races they will decide if they will keep him at the Yamaha team.”

Rossi also said that Yamaha’s conditions for Morbidelli would still be maintained.

“The only way is to go as fast as Fabio Quartararo. This is the target. It’s difficult with Yamaha, at the moment. But he has to give his best to keep his place in this team,” he was quoted as saying crash.net

Rossi enjoyed his legendary heyday with Japanese manufacturer Yamaha, overseen by Jarvis.

His legacy with this Japanese motorcycle brand extends to VR46 Academy graduate Morbidelli who is currently one of only two Yamaha riders on the grid.

Jorge Martin from Pramac Ducati is among the favorites to claim the Morbidelli seat next season. Yamaha WorldSBK racer Razgatlioglu has also been asked to test the M1 motorbike. This is a clear sign that the Turkish driver is also being considered.

Another interesting topic in Rossi and Jarvis’ discussion about Morbidelli is the future of the Mooney VR46 team.

The team made by Rossi performed brilliantly in the opening round of the 2023 MotoGP season, with Marco Bezzecchi previously leading the standings and Luca Marini also fighting at the front.
