The initiative continues the Biden-Kamala Harris administration’s efforts to engage with the crypto sector. Additionally, Democrats have launched a “Crypto for Harris” initiative to help Vice President Kamala Harris gain support from the cryptocurrency community.

According to Bitcoin.com, senior White House officials reportedly engaged in a phone call with cryptocurrency leaders on Thursday, August 8, 2024, as part of the Biden administration’s efforts to connect with the crypto finance industry.

The call involved Bruce Reed, the White House deputy chief of staff; Lael Brainard, the director of the National Economic Council; and Kristine Lucius, a senior adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris, The Hill reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The meeting was hosted by pro-crypto Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California. The initiative followed a panel discussion hosted by Khanna that featured Democratic lawmakers and industry executives, including Anita Dunn, formerly a senior adviser to President Joe Biden who has now joined a super PAC supporting Harris’ campaign.

White House spokeswoman Robyn Patterson said in a statement: “The Biden-Harris administration will continue to meet with stakeholders and work with members of Congress to craft legislation to develop the protections needed to capitalize on the potential benefits and innovation opportunities of crypto assets,” Patterson said.
