Sam Altman: OpenAI could become a money-making company like xAI

Several former OpenAI employees wrote an open letter containing a warning. In the letter, former employees said that OpenAI silenced their critics who were worried about the security of AI, aka artificial intelligence.

The open letter was signed by 13 former OpenAI employees. This letter states that there is no effective government oversight regarding AI security. In their letter, they also asked AI companies to be more committed to the principle of open criticism.

Apart from these two companies, Microsoft has also come under fire for its Copilot Designer, which produces sexually suggestive AI images.

The principles of criticism stated in the letter include avoiding the creation and enforcement of non-disparagement clauses, facilitating reporting by “verifiable” anonymous parties to report problems.

Not only that, the letter written by former OpenAI employees also wants current and former employees to be able to express their concerns about AI to the public freely, without having to feel afraid if technology companies retaliate against their “attacks”.

The letter states that while they believe in AI's potential to benefit society, they also see risks. Starting from increasing inequality, manipulation and misinformation, as well as the possibility of human extinction.
