SEA Games 2023: Hafiz Wins Gold in Javelin Throwing, Ndiken Contributes Bronze

– The javelin throwing event won one gold and one bronze medal for Indonesia at the 2023 SEA Games.

The gold medal was won by male javelin athlete Abdul Hafiz after performing well in the competition which was held at Morodok Tecno National Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Monday (8/5/2023).

Hafiz confirmed gold after he recorded a distance of 66.20 meters in the third throw in a race which was marred by heavy rain.

While the bronze medal was won by Augustine Abadi Ndiken.

With the addition of one gold and one bronze, the athletics branch has already won four gold, two silver and four bronze medals. Gold medals were also presented by Agus Prayogo and Odekta Elvina Naibaho in the men’s and women’s marathons respectively, as well as Hendro Yap from the men’s 20km fast road event.

Two silver medals were also won by Indonesia in the women’s 20km sprint through Violine Intan Puspita and Maria Natalia Londa who took part in the triple jump.

Apart from Ndiken, the other three bronze medals were donated by Lalu Muhammad Zohri (men’s 200 meters), Odekta (women’s 5,000 meters), and Wahyudi Putra (men’s 1,500 meters).
