SEA Games 2023: Winning Gold, Odekta Naibaho Lies Immediately

Indonesian women’s marathon athlete Odekta Elvina Naibaho followed in Agus Prayogo’s footsteps by winning gold at the 2023 SEA Games. After winning gold in the area of ​​the Angkor Wat cultural heritage site, Siem Reap, Saturday (6/5/2023), Odekta Naibaho immediately collapsed.

Odekta Naibaho, not only had to face tough competitors, he also had to fight the 37 degree Celsius air. After becoming the fastest among the other participants in the women’s marathon, she had to crash.

He had to be given oxygen and rushed to use an ambulance once he crossed the finish line.

The Indonesian marathon trainer, Wita Witarsa, said Odekta Naihabo was hot.

“It was really hot earlier, but I kept on encouraging him to survive and thank God today we are marrying gold at the marathon,” he said.

To appear at the 2023 SEA Games, the Indonesian team arrived early in Siem Reap, Cambodia for acclimatization.

“We are not looking for a record (at the 2023 SEA Games). The important thing is gold,” said Wita.
