SEA Games 2025 Thailand Competes in 50 Sports and 3 Exhibition Branches

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The 33rd SEA Games which will be held on 9-20 December 2025 in Thailand will hold 569 competitions from 50 sports and three exhibition branches.

Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari said this decision was the result of a meeting SEA Games Federation (SEAGAF) in Bangkok which was attended by representatives of the Indonesian NOC Executive Committee, Antonius Adi, and Akbar Nasution.

Hosts Thailand have designated Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla as match locations. Apart from that, several sports are combined into the extreme sports category, such as rock climbing, water skiing, wakeboarding, skateboarding and jetskiing.

Oktohari emphasized that the SEA Games are a golden opportunity for Indonesian athletes to show off their abilities. “We are optimistic that Indonesian athletes will be able to adapt to the sports they compete in, including new ones,” said Oktohari as quoted by Between, Thursday (21/11/2024).

KOI has coordinated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the sports branch to ensure that the Indonesian contingent’s preparation is thorough, both technically and mentally.

The 2025 SEA Games will feature competition in various mandatory sports which are also included in the Asian Games and Olympics, such as aquatics, athletics, badminton, football and weightlifting. Meanwhile, the three exhibition sports that will be played are flying disc, tug of war, paragliding, and paramotor.

“We welcome the commitment of host Thailand and are ready to support athletes to achieve their best,” he added.

The 2025 Thailand SEA Games will be an arena that will not only test physical abilities but also strengthen solidarity among Southeast Asian countries.
