Separating immediately, Dejan/Gloria were eliminated in the last 16 of the Malaysia Open 2025

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja colored their final performance with defeat in the round of 16 of the Malaysia Open 2025, Thursday (9/1/2025).

Dejan/Gloria lost in the second round of the BWF Super 1,000 level badminton championship after surrendering to Japanese doubles Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito, 17-21 and 17-21. They gave up after fighting for 42 minutes.

This was the two’s last tournament as a pair. Dejan Ferdinansyah will next have a duet with Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti. Meanwhile, Gloria will be paired with Reahan Naufal Kusharjanto.

“This is our last tournament as a couple. The journey was not easy, we all went through ups and downs, emotions. “Proud of our achievements to date,” said Gloria.

“I can only give a message to Dejan, keep up your enthusiasm, there is still a long way to go and this is the time to prove it. “Finally you can reach your goal, starting again from zero,” said this player from Bekasi, West Java.

Meanwhile, Dejan discussed his defeat against the mixed doubles ranked 14th. He said he and Gloria played impatiently, while their opponents were also difficult to kill and played closely.

“Our attacks continued to be returned and ultimately made us make mistakes even on easy balls, apart from that our defense was also not as solid as usual,” said Dejan after being eliminated in the last 16 of the Malaysia Open 2025.

Dejan revealed that his journey with Gloria was surprising. It was very impressive and I learned a lot from Sis Gloria. “I am very grateful to Sis Gloria who wanted to help me, accompanied me, and was willing to fight together to get to this point,” explained this native of Garut, West Java.

Dejan also said that Gloria was like an older sister to him. “I remember when I first started pairing, I asked for help and asked how to do it packing abroad. It may be a small thing, but it is very important. “That’s a moment I will never forget,” said Dejan, who is seven years younger than Gloria.

Apart from Dejan/Gloria, another Indonesian representative at the 2024 Malaysia Open, namely men’s singles Anthony Simsuka Ginting, also stopped in the round of 16. This player from Cimahi, West Java was eliminated after surrendering to fifth seed from Thailand Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

Ginting failed to continue its progress in the 2025 Malaysia Open championship after giving up 7-21 and 10-21 to Vitidsarn. Ginting lost after playing 42 minutes.

Meanwhile, another Indonesian representative in the women’s singles event, Putri Kusuma Wardani, managed to win a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open 2025 after defeating Julie Dawall Jakobsen from Denmark with a score of 21-16 and 21-12. Putri won after fighting for 30 minutes.

Other Indonesian representatives who will still play in the last 16 of the Malaysia Open 2025 are men’s doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Isfahani and women’s doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
