Sony Wants to Launch Crypto Exchange Company, Here's Its Name
Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – Japanese multinational conglomerate Sony is set to launch a cryptocurrency exchange. Sony intends to do so by restarting another crypto trading platform it acquired in August 2023.
Amber Japan, the parent company of Japanese crypto exchange WhaleFin, which was acquired by Sony last year, has changed its name to S.BLOX. The tech giant is preparing to launch digital asset trading services soon.
As is known, Sony's wholly owned subsidiary, Quetta Web, acquired S.BLOX last year. Previously, the digital asset trading entity was a crypto exchange called DeCurret.
The company was renamed Amber Japan after a Japanese subsidiary of Singapore's Amber Group acquired it in 2022. Sony is the second buyer of the company since its founding. Details of both acquisitions are still under wraps.
Quoted from cryptopotato, Tuesday (2/7/2024), since being acquired, S.BLOX has functioned as a subsidiary of Sony, and now the conglomerate wants to update its crypto trading services. In the announcement of the company's name change, S.BLOX revealed that they released an improved version of the business earlier this year.
The exchange service update will be accompanied by the release of a new application and a redesign of the user interface screen. In addition, S.BLOX intends to expand its business to support more cryptocurrencies and functions.
Moving forward, as a member of the Sony Group, we will strive to create new added value in cryptocurrency trading services by collaborating with various group businesses. Thank you for using WhaleFin,” S.BLOX said in a written statement.
