Still Being Prepared, Here Are Leaks of the 2024 Paris Olympics Athlete Bonuses

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The amount of bonuses for Indonesian athletes who win medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics is still a question. The Red and White contingent at the world’s largest sporting event successfully contributed two gold medals and one bronze.

Indonesia won two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics through Rizki Juniansyah (weightlifting) and Veddriq Leonardo (rock climbing). Meanwhile, the bronze medal was presented by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the badminton sport.

Deputy for Coordination of Mental Revolution, Cultural Advancement, and Sports Achievement of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Prof. Warsito, said that the bonus reference for athletes competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics is based on the bonuses given at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Our reference is the Tokyo Olympics that was mentioned earlier, that’s clearly the minimum. Of course, we haven’t gotten the exact figures yet because it’s still being worked on at the Ministry of Finance, but at least it’s a minimum of IDR 5.5 billion for gold medalists, IDR 2.5 billion for silver, and IDR 1.5 billion for bronze, and around IDR 100 million for non-champion winners in Tokyo,” he said in response to Beritasatu.com’s question at the Deputy Meet The Press event at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture office, Jakarta, Monday (12/8/2024).

According to him, the government is expected to increase the nominal amount and other parties will also participate in providing bonuses to athletes.

“The hope is that with inflation, the government will increase it with other bonuses, and maybe from BUMN and so on. I’m sure there will be, because we are really quite proud of this,” he concluded.
