STY admits that the match at home will be tough for Garuda

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Coach Shin Tae-yong (STY) admitted that the Garuda squad’s match in the Vietnam vs Indonesia match in the third match of Group B of the 2024 AFF Cup would be a tough test for squad-his.

This match will be held at Viet Tri Stadium on Sunday (15/12/2024) starting at 20.00 WIB.

With a busy schedule, only three days away from the previous match, STY said that physical and mental challenges were the main obstacles for the young Garuda team.

“Tomorrow’s match against Vietnam will be very difficult. We have already had our first match in Myanmar which is far away, then made a long journey for the home match. Now, we face Vietnam as our third match. This busy schedule has made us tired,” said STY ahead of the match. Vietnam vs Indonesia, Saturday (14/12/2024).

According to the 54 year old coach, squad Indonesia, which is predominantly home to U-20 players, has limited experience compared to Vietnam, which fields more experienced players.

However, STY hopes that this match will provide valuable lessons for its young players in preparation for other big tournaments such as the 2025 SEA Games and the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers.

“We have many young players who still lack experience in international matches. Even though it is tough, I hope they learn important lessons from this match. We will try to give our best,” he added.

Meanwhile, Vietnam coach, Kim Sang-sik, remains wary of Indonesia’s strength even though the opponents are coming squad young and in poor physical condition due to busy schedules.

“Many think Vietnam will win big, but I don’t want to focus on the number of goals. Honestly, scoring goals against Indonesia will not be easy,” explained Kim.

He also admitted that even though Indonesia was tired after a long journey, the STY team still had a high fighting spirit. “Indonesia has many young players who want to prove their abilities. We have to prepare ourselves well to achieve victory,” he concluded.

The match between Vietnam vs Indonesia is predicted to be fierce, with both teams having their own missions to prove their abilities on the 2024 AFF Cup stage.
