STY asks the public to support the Indonesian U-22 national team in the 2024 AFF Cup
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Coach Shin Tae-yong (STY) hopes for public support for the U-22 Indonesian National Team which will compete in the 2024 AFF Cup, which is now known as the 2024 ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup.
According to STY, this support can motivate young players to be able to perform optimally and achieve the best results.
“Preparations for the AFF Cup with Indonesian U-22 National Team players are being carried out in Bali. Please support us so that our young talents can make achievements in this competition,” wrote Shin in a post on his personal Instagram account, Tuesday (3/12/2024).
The coach from South Korea emphasized that the AFF Cup tournament was part of his preparations to build a more solid Indonesian U-22 national team ahead of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
In this 15th edition of the tournament, STY brought the majority of young players. Of the total 33 players called up, only eight players are regular members of the senior national team, namely Justin Hubner, Asnawi Mangkualam, Muhammad Ferrari, Pratama Arhan, Ivar Jenner, Marselino Ferdinan, Rafael Struick, and Hokky Caraka.
“The AFF Cup is a big event which is also an opportunity for young players to develop. They have great potential to encourage the progress of Indonesian football in the future,” said Shin.
The Indonesian U-22 National Team has been undergoing training camp (TC) in Bali from Thursday (28/11/2024) to Wednesday (4/12/2024). One of TC’s agendas is a trial against Bali United to finalize the team’s strategy and cohesion.
In the 2024 AFF Cup, Indonesia is in Group B with Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Indonesia’s match schedule is as follows:
December 9: Away against Myanmar
December 12: Home against Laos
December 15: Away against Vietnam
December 21: Home against Philippines
