Sudirman Cup: Anthony Ginting loses, Indonesia 0-2 China

– Indonesia was 0-2 behind China in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Sudirman Cup. This time, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who played in the second match, was defeated by Shi Yu Qi in a match at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Center, China, Friday (19/5/2023).

Ginting gave up losing 20-22, 14-21.

At the start of the first game, Ginting appeared dominant. Several times his feint punches tricked Shi Yu Qi. Winning 2-0, 4-1, Ginting continued to dominate the game. Ginting maintained the advantage 12-8, until 17-12.

Slowly Shi Yu Qi was able to provide fierce resistance until he was able to close the distance to 16-18. Ginting’s net return failed so the score was 18-17. The tight score was 19-18 and Shi Yu Qi’s smash came out so Ginting won 20-18. Unfortunately two mistakes were made by Ginting so that the score turned in favor of Shi Yu Qi to 20-20. Shi Yu Qi was able to get two consecutive points to close the first game with a 22-20 win.

Ginting encountered difficulties in the second game. His game is easy to read his opponent. Behind 0-3 and 0-5, Ginting continued to encounter difficulties until he was 5-11 adrift in the interval. Ginting continued to fall behind until 7-12. Even though he was able to drain his opponent’s energy, unfortunately Ginting made a mistake in the final settlement.

Ginting made consecutive mistakes so he was left behind 10-18, 14-20. When the game finally closed, Shi Yu Qi won 21-14 after Ginting hit a net return.
