Sudirman Cup: PBSI Finds the Most Beautiful Gift for 72nd Birthday

The Sudirman Cup mixed team badminton competition will be held in Suzhou, China, 14-21 May 2023. Indonesia wants to win the Sudirman Cup title as the most beautiful gift for the 72nd anniversary of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

Since the Sudirman Cup was contested, Indonesia has only won it once, namely in the inaugural edition of 1989 in Jakarta. After that, the Red-White Team always failed.

PP PBSI general chairman Agung Firman Sampurna released the Indonesian badminton team to fight for the 2023 Sudirman Cup. Armed with the best players and good collaboration, Indonesia is determined to be able to win back the Sudirman Cup.

The release of the Sudirman Cup team was carried out in the PBSI National Pelatnas Multipurpose Room, Cipayung, East Jakarta, Monday (8/5/2023). This event was marked by the handing over of the Red and White flag from Agung Firman to the Sudirman Cup team manager, Armand Darmadji.

“Today, through a simple program, we are letting go of the badminton team that will fight for the Sudirman Cup in Suzhou, China. I ask all the players to always be compact, never give up, put out all their best abilities, and don’t make the target of winning back the Sudirman Cup a burden. Instead it should be motivation. Compete to win!” great message.

At the 2023 Sudirman Cup, Indonesia joined in Group B with Thailand, Germany and Canada. With 20 of the best players, the Red and White squad will leave Indonesia on Thursday, 11 May 2023.
