Take a peek at the Indonesian U-22 National Team training in Bali, ready to compete in the 2024 AFF Cup

Gianyar, Beritasatu.com – A total of 23 Indonesian U-22 National Team players are holding a training camp at the Bali United Training Center, Purnama Beach, Gianyar Bali to face the 2024 AFF Cup. This number is still 60 percent of the total 33 players called up.

The Indonesian national team players have actually started training since Thursday (28/11/2024). The training menu this time is more about physical exercise after doing exercise in the morning gym.

Indonesian U-22 National Team coach Shin Tae-yong, who will compete in the 2024 AFF Cup, finds it difficult to bring in players who are currently playing abroad. He confirmed that only a few players would immediately join training.

“It is not easy to bring in players who play abroad except for Asnawi Mangkualam, Marselino Ferdinan and Pratama Arhan who are likely to join the Indonesian national team,” said Shin Tae-yong before holding a training session.

The AFF Cup will take place from 8 December to 5 January 2025. The Indonesian national team will play its first match against hosts the Myanmar national team. With the existing squad, Shin Tae-yong is confident that he can pass the preliminary round.

“The other national teams apart from us are the senior Indonesian National Team squad while we are the U-22 Indonesian National Team. Of course, it is not easy for us but in the group stage we will prepare better,” he said.

The Indonesian U-22 national team in the 2024 AFF Cup is in group B with Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Seeing the success of coach STY in handling the senior Indonesian National Team, of course there are many expectations from Garuda supporters to be able to bring the U-22 Indonesian National Team to become champions.

Responding to the fans’ high expectations, Shin Tae-yong asked not to have too high hopes, because this is not a senior team.

“This is a burden for us, the fans certainly hope that we can win but we are not the senior Indonesian National Team. However, the U-22 Indonesian National Team is having a bit of difficulty calling up players so expectations should not be too high,” he stressed.

“Choosing Bali to hold a training camp is because Bali United has quite a supportive field and in Jakarta itself there are not many fields for training,” concluded Shin Tae-yong.
