Taufik Hidayat Disappointed with Badminton Results at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Surabaya, Todaysgist.com – Indonesian badminton legend Taufik Hidayat expressed his disappointment over the disappointing results of the Indonesian badminton contingent at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Taufik openly expressed his dissatisfaction after the Indonesian badminton team only managed to win one bronze medal in the women’s singles event.

According to Taufik, this failure should be a motivation to make comprehensive improvements in Indonesian badminton, including athletes, coaches, and organizational administrators.

As the 2004 Athens Olympic champion, Taufik felt very disappointed because even though the Indonesian badminton team sent athletes in all categories, they only managed to win a bronze medal through Gregoria Mariska.

As a team member ad hoc, PBSI, which is tasked with monitoring and assisting athletes for the past six months until the Olympics in Paris, Taufik emphasized that all athletes’ needs have been met, including motivational support, a team of psychologists, and training assistance.

“If you say disappointed, I personally feel disappointed. However, we cannot continue to look back. We must focus on the future and try to advance Indonesian badminton,” said Taufik Hidayat in Surabaya, Tuesday (13/8/2024).

Taufik hopes that the results of the Paris Olympics can be a benchmark for improving the quality of badminton in the country in the future.

He wants the new PBSI management under the leadership of Commissioner General Fadil Imran to work together to build PBSI in a better direction.

“The public can judge for themselves how the athletes will perform at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This is a deficiency that must be fixed. With the new PBSI management, let’s work together to advance our badminton sport,” he said.
