Tesla wants to unveil the prototype of a humanoid robot in September. That writes director Elon Musk Friday on Twitter.

The robot, which has been given the name Optimus, was announced last August at Tesla’s AI Day conference. This year, that event will take place again. Musk now reports that the meeting has been moved from August to September 30, so that Tesla may then be able to show a working prototype.

Tesla previously reported that it is a “friendly robot” that is made “by people, for people”. It is mainly intended to take repetitive and boring tasks off your hands.

Think, for example, of doing groceries and picking up or tightening a screw.

The robot would be easy to overpower by people, if it were not so friendly, Tesla assures: it weighs about 60 kilograms and can walk at a speed of about 8 kilometers per hour.

The face of the robot is a screen on which information can be displayed.
