Thai Footballer Becomes Drug Dealer Due to Online Gambling Addiction

Bangkok, Todaysgist.com – A footballer who plays in Thailand’s League 1, Jesadaporn Nimnon (22), was arrested by the police for possession and trafficking of drugs.

Nimnon admitted his crimes and said he regretted his mistakes, according to media. Mekha News .

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder will face a prison sentence and his football career is thought to be over.

Nimnon started playing football at the age of 9. He was called up to the Thailand U-18 team in 2018. In the 2023-2024 season, Nimnon plays for Bangkok United in the Thai League 1.

Nimnon’s career declined due to his addiction to online gambling. His life worsened when his daughter fell ill and died when she was only nine months old. He was arrested right after his daughter’s funeral on August 6, at a temple in Lam Luk Ka, Pathum Thani Province.

Nimnon was identified as the driver of a vehicle transporting more than 26kg of crystal methamphetamine, including 15kg of ketamine, from Bangkok to neighboring provinces. The footballer admitted to being involved in the drug trafficking network since early 2024.

Nimnon said he had no other choice because he needed money to cover living expenses and the medical expenses of his sick child.
