The Indonesian National Team does not set a target to win the 2024 AFF U-22 Cup

Gianyar, Beritasatu.com – Sumardji as Chair of the National Team Agency (BTN) said that the Indonesian U-22 National Team would take part in the 2024 AFF U-22 Cup championship without setting a target.

Sumardji said that his party must know and be truly realistic in determining targets. He feels that there are two things that are the targets of the U-22 Indonesian National Team which will compete in the 2024 AFF U-22 Cup.

“Of course, the first time we can get to the final is already very good and that’s a good achievement, and if we win it will be extraordinary. This means that what is the target has been agreed at PSSI that in essence this squad is the squad that will be “delegated to prepare for the SEA Games and regeneration. So, these two things are our targets for preparing the Indonesian U-22 National Team to be better,” said Sumardji in Bali, Tuesday (3/12/2024).

The Indonesian U-22 national team has been undergoing training camp in Bali since (28/11/2024) until today, Tuesday (3/12/2024) and will leave for Jakarta on Wednesday (4/12/2024).

Even though he has not set a target to win the 2024 AFF U-22 Cup, Sumardji hopes that the Indonesian national team players will continue to fight hard in every match.

“There is no specific target for the 2024 AFF U-22 Cup. The general chairman said that this team must win, but we must try to qualify in phase group, we hope that all players must continue to fight in every match,” he added.

In the 2024 AFF U-22 Cup, Indonesia is in Group B with Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam.

December 9: Myanmar vs Indonesia

December 12: Indonesia vs Laos

December 15: Vietnam vs Indonesia

December 21: Indonesia vs Philippines
