The Persik vs Arema match was marked by clashes between supporters outside the Brawijaya Stadium

Kediri, Beritasatu.com – The East Java derby match between Persik Kediri vs Arema Malang FC in the 15th week of BRI Liga 1 2024/2025, was marked by clashes between supporters of the two teams outside the Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri, Monday (16/12/2024) afternoon.

The riot between Persik vs Arema supporters occurred east of Simpang Lima Gumul (SLG), Ngasem District, Kediri Regency. Two groups of supporters attacked each other with stones and firecrackers. The incident was recorded on a resident’s cell phone and went viral on social media.

“It happened in the afternoon, fellow supporters clashed. They thought they were supporters of another club, they misunderstood. We immediately dispersed,” said Ngadem Police Chief Iptu Ardian Wahyudi.

Ardian said that officers from the Ngasem Police and the Kediri Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately broke up the clash between Persik vs Arema supporters. He emphasized that no supporters were arrested in the incident. The officers dispersed the crowd in a conducive manner.

“No one was arrested. We immediately dispersed them. Some even brought firecrackers,” he explained.

Apart from SLG Kediri, riots between Persik vs Arema supporters also occurred in Kandangan District on the Kediri-Malang border and are still being investigated. “That’s why we are still waiting to see if there are any reports of injuries or what in the community,” he concluded.

In the League 1 follow-up match at Brawijaya Stadium this afternoon, Persik Kediri narrowly won 1-0 over Arema.

Persik Kediri’s only goal was scored by M Khanafi in the 87th minute. This victory made Persik rise after several downturns in several matches.
