TON Foundation launches Society DAO to drive decentralization on blockchain

The TON Foundation announced, on November 1st, the launch of Society DAO. This is an initiative aimed at strengthening decentralization in The Open Network (TON) ecosystem.
With this new governance structure, the foundation aims to democratize access to financial and human resources, promoting greater transparency and inclusion for the community.
TON Foundation President Steve Yun and TON Society Co-Founder Jack Booth highlighted the goal of making decentralization a practical reality on blockchain, with a model that values active participation and community engagement.
The Society DAO seeks to serve as a governance framework, in which community members can propose, execute and evaluate strategies that meet the objectives of the TON ecosystem.

According to the TON Foundation, the new DAO will bring together recognized and experienced teams. These people will be able to contribute in areas such as marketing, app development, technology, stablecoin integration, DeFi, community growth and digital identity.
“With Society DAO, we aim to make the community’s brightest members the key players in TON’s growth and adoption,” highlighted Yun and Booth.
The Society DAO governance model includes publishing TON ecosystem objectives and allowing members to propose strategies, defining deadlines and expected results. Furthermore, the structure allows the creation of working groups responsible for reviewing proposals and approving financing, encouraging participatory and transparent management.
The foundation announced that, by January 2025, it will publish a list of priority initiatives for the first semester. The initiative consolidates the commitment to a community and collaborative approach.
The creation of Society DAO aims to position the network as an ideal blockchain for the integration of real-world assets and as a market for super apps, expanding the possibilities for using the technology in everyday life.
With this strategy, the TON Foundation aims to place the TON network at the forefront of Web3. The objective is to show that decentralization can be a differentiator that is not only technical, but also practical and accessible to the general public.
