In the semifinals, Veddriq went even crazier. He finished the round with a time of 4.78 seconds, beating his opponent Alipour Alireza from Iran who only recorded a time of 4.84 seconds. This result made him advance to the finals.

It didn’t stop there, Veddriq, who had equaled the fastest world record held by Samuel Watson from the USA, showed his best ability in the final round, thus ensuring that he won the gold medal, beating his opponent Wu Peng from China with his best time of 4.75 seconds.

Winning the gold medal made him the first Indonesian athlete to win a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
