Vice President Gibran Chairs Closed Meeting to Discuss 2024 DBON Adjustments at the Ministry of Youth and Sports

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The closed meeting discussing the National Sports Grand Design (DBON) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) was chaired by Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This meeting aims to make adjustments to the 2023 DBON strategy that was previously implemented.

“Later we will adjust how the 2023 DBON is implemented at the central level, then encourage its implementation to the regions. In 2024, the main focus will be how provincial, district and city governments can implement regional sports designs, as well as each branch of sport in the regions by taking into account the potential and uniqueness of each region,” said Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of Youth and Sports, after a meeting at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Senayan, Wednesday (4/12/2024).

Dito explained that in 2024, the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ main focus will be to implement DBON which has been implemented at the central level, and then encourage its implementation to also be carried out at the regional level. Regional governments will be asked to adapt sports designs according to the potential and specifics of each region.

Dito also revealed that the Ministry of Youth and Sports would have a new deputy, namely the deputy for sports industry development.

“This is a new deputy who will focus on developing the sports industry,” he explained.

The meeting also discussed President Prabowo’s priorities, namely the Asian Games, Olympics and World Cup. The focus is not only on the sports sector, but also on the development of sports-related manufacturing and tourism industries.

“Earlier, the Vice President also wanted to encourage the sports industry in terms of manufacturing and tourism, as in Mr Prabowo’s priority program, considering the incentives,” added Dito.

The 2024 DBON meeting was attended by various ministers and deputy ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar, and other important officials. Dito emphasized that ministries and institutions already have their respective roles.

“I said earlier that we will prepare everything, starting from the foundation, infrastructure, to the downstream industry. This meeting aims to re-determine the commitment and steps that will be taken to prepare the second phase of DBON,” said Dito.
