Violence Resulting in Red Card, Kudus Sentenced to 5 Matches
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The English Football Association (FA) banned West Ham United player Mohammed Kudus from playing in five matches. The punishment was given due to violence committed in the match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The FA punishment imposed on the Kudus striker was due to the red card he received in the match against Tottenham Hotspur, 19 October.
The 24-year-old striker was given a red card because of his disgraceful behavior. With a five-match suspension, apart from the matches against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, Kudus will also not be able to defend West Ham against Everton on 9 September 2024, then against Newcastle United on 25 November 2024, and Arsenal on 30 November.
Kudus was initially given a yellow card by referee Andy Madley. At that time, he was seen kicking Spurs defender Micky van de Ven before pushing the Dutch international.
The player from Ghana then pushed Hotspur midfielder Papa Matar Sarr. VAR referee Chris Kavanagh recommended referee Madley review the incident, who then decided to give Kudus a red card.
The FA added Holy’s punishment after conducting a trial. Kudus was accused of behaving inappropriately or committing violence. The FA decided to increase the penalty by three matches. Two matches have been played. Kudus will still be absent for three more matches.
Kudus had time to defend himself. In a letter he gave to the FA on October 24, he believed Van de Ven was the culprit in the violation. However, he apologized for the incident and said he was very sorry.
