Wearing Balinese Traditional Clothing, Flairene Brings Red and White at the Opening of the 2023 SEA Games

National swimmer Flairene Candrea Wonomiharjo was entrusted with carrying the Red and White flag when the Indonesian contingent conducted a march at the opening of the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia at Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Penh, Friday (5/5/2023).

Flairene’s appearance, wearing Balinese traditional clothing, caught the attention of Cambodians.

Even before the parade of the contingent of participants, a number of performers who were Cambodians took turns wanting to take pictures with the 18-year-old swimmer.

Flairene said she was proud to be honored as the flag bearer. Moreover, the 18-year-old swimmer was listed as the youngest among Indonesian athletes who previously carried out this task.

“Definitely more motivated. It’s an honor and of course I’m very happy to be able to represent Indonesia by carrying the Red and White flag at the 2023 SEA Games. This is a valuable opportunity,” said Flairene.

The women’s backstroke specialist swimmer is in the leading position leading around 45 people who are representatives of 25 athletes and officials, as well as 15 representatives of the Chef de Mission (CdM) Team, as well as the Executive Committee of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia).

The Indonesian contingent fielded athletes in the parade from karate, teqball, swimming, pencak silat, and sepak takraw branches. Then there was also Adi Wirawan a representative from KE NOC Indonesia, CdM of the Indonesian Contingent Lexyndo Hakim, Vice CdM Puji Lestari, Deputy I Andi Astribhaskoro Emir, Deputy II Ibnu Riza Pradipta and others.
