West Java’s Star-Studded Team Beats Central Java in the XXI PON Men’s Volleyball Final

Deli Serdang, Todaysgist.com – The star-studded West Java (Jabar) team retained the men’s volleyball gold medal after defeating Central Java (Jateng) with a score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, and 25-13) in the final match of the XXI Aceh-Sumut 2024 PON at the Sumut Sport Center GOR, Deli Serdang, Thursday (19/9/2024) evening.

The star-studded West Java team won the gold medal for the second consecutive time after winning the men’s volleyball gold medal in the previous PON held in Papua in 2021 after defeating DKI Jakarta.

West Java is strengthened by players who are currently on the rise, such as Farhan Halim, Boy Arnez, Hendra Kurniawan, Cep Indra, Jasen Natanael Kilanta, and M Fikri.

In the final match of the XXI PON volleyball against Central Java, West Java was able to appear dominant in every set. In the first set, West Java took the initiative to press and was able to get the first point to lead by several points over Central Java.

On the other hand, Jateng has not been able to equalize. However, Doni Haryono and his friends were able to slightly reduce the point gap. Even so, Jabar finally locked the first set thanks to a 25-18 victory.

When the second set rolled, Jateng first scored more points and was ahead at 12-10. However, Jabar was slowly able to equalize the score to 12-12.

Even though West Java was behind for a while, West Java slowly recovered and turned the score around to 17-14, forcing Central Java to do… time out. Even though Central Java was able to reduce the difference in points, Jasen Natanael Kilanta and his friends secured the second set with a score of 25-22.

In the third set, Jabar tried to take the first point, but Cep Indra’s smash did not reach the target, resulting in a point for Jateng.

Furthermore, the squad coached by Samsul Jais was able to lead 13-9 and continued to increase the advantage so that there was a nine-point difference over Central Java at 21-12. West Java, which was on the upswing, was increasingly comfortable increasing its advantage and closed the third set with a landslide victory of 25-13.

Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta men’s volleyball team won the bronze medal after defeating East Java 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, and 25-17). Previously, the DKI Jakarta women’s volleyball team retained the bronze medal after defeating Central Java 3-0 (25-14, 29-27, and 25-15).
