WhatsApp Trials Creating Digital Avatars Using AI, Invites Users to Get Creative

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature called Imagine Me, which will let users create their own digital avatars.

The trial of this feature was first noticed from reports WABetaInfo. Citing information from The VergeSaturday (5/7/2024), this feature was tested on the WhatsApp beta version application for Android 2.24.14.7.

It is said that this feature will use a combination of user photos, text commands, and Meta's AI Llama model. Interestingly, the avatar can later be placed on various backgrounds depending on the user's imagination.

Based on screenshot shared, this feature allows users to create digital avatars that adventure in the jungle to space. This feature is similar to a number of similar applications, such as Lensa AI.

To create their digital avatar, WhatsApp users only need to take a single photo of themselves. The photo will then be used to train Meta AI to generate images of users in various settings.

Later, users can create an avatar by typing 'Imagine Me' followed by a description of the desired background. chat Meta AI. Another way is to type '@Meta AI imagine me..' in a WhatsApp conversation.

Although interesting, the use of this feature is said to be optional. This means that users can choose to activate or deactivate this feature through the settings menu.

Meta's chat app also ensures the security of this service. Therefore, reference photos used to train AI can be deleted at any time through Meta AI settings on WhatsApp.

Although it has been revealed, there is no official information regarding the launch of the Imagine Me feature. Moreover, WhatsApp is currently working on developing the service chatbot Meta AI.
