Winning Gold at PON XXI, Megawati Immediately Returns to Korea

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Women’s volleyball player Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, who recently won the 21st PON gold medal for East Java (Jatim), immediately returned to South Korea.

Megawati Hangestri put on a stunning performance by scoring 32 points in the women’s volleyball final of PON XXI against West Java (Jabar) at the Indoor Sport Center Volleyball Court, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Thursday (19/9/2024).

However, Megawati could not return to her hometown in East Java because she had to immediately join her colleagues at Red Sparks who were preparing to compete in the Korean Volleyball League.

“Megawati returned to Korea on Friday afternoon, from Medan via Singapore, straight to Korea. She did not return to East Java,” said East Java volleyball team companion, Rianita Panirwan to Todaysgist.com, Friday (20/9/2024).

Megawati arrived in Medan on Tuesday (17/9/2024) afternoon after traveling from South Korea. On Wednesday (18/8/2024), the player from Jember immediately played with the East Java volleyball team in the semifinals. She also competed in the final on Thursday (19/9/2024).

The 184 cm tall player celebrated his 25th birthday this Friday. At 00.00 WIB, he received birthday greetings from his teammates. His birthday was also celebrated by the East Java volleyball team.

“Last dance in PON, thank God I was still given an extraordinary blessing, and this is a birthday present this year,” said Megawati on her Instagram.

East Java defeated West Java with a score of 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, and 25-23) in the final round of PON XXI.
