On Monday (25), one of the largest ETF managers in the United States registered an application for a new ETF in the state of Delaware, in the United States. The news quickly spread across the market and boosted the price of cryptocurrencies. Apparently, the new ETF will be linked to XRP, a token from the Ripple blockchain network.
The news that the manager WisdomTree intends to launch an XRP ETF was released by Eleanor Terret on her X account. In the publication, the Fox Business journalist shared an image of the form for opening (S-1), with the SEC ( United States Securities and Exchange Commission).
In the image, you can see the name of the fund highlighted, which will be called WISDOMTREE XRP FUND. With more than 113 billion dollars in assets, something around 600 billion reais, the manager is notable for offering ETFs with regular returns.
In recent years, the manager has entered the cryptoactive market once and for all. After all, the company launched a series of ETFs linked to cryptocurrencies, such as the WisdomTree CF Crypto Mega Cap Equal Weight Index (WTCFMEGA), WisdomTree CF Crypto Market Index (WTCFMRKT) and the WisdomTree Bitcoin Fund (EBTCW). The latter, launched at the beginning of the year, already has around R$2 million invested.
XRP ETF Request
Therefore, if the company is following the same pattern as its other funds, the fund should really be linked to XRP. The company is following in the same footsteps as Bitwise and Canary Capital, which have filed similar requests with the SEC and are expected to launch their XRP ETFs soon.
The news encouraged the market. XRP, which started the day at $1.38, reached $1.52 in the early hours of the day. The value is very close to that reached last week, when the native token of the Ripple blockchain network reached a value of US$1.60.
At the time, the market was optimistic with the news of Gary Gensler’s departure from the SEC’s most important chair, in January 2025. Appointed by Joe Biden in April 2021, the politician and academic was a declared enemy of the decentralization of the cryptocurrency market .
With Gensler’s imminent departure, the market expectation is that the path is paved for cryptocurrencies with the SEC, the main financial market regulatory body in the United States. The announcement of ETF fund registration for XRP by WisdomTree is just another indication in this regard.
