Without Mees Hilgers, this is the prediction for the composition of the Indonesian vs Japanese national team players

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – It is certain that the Indonesian national team will be without defender Mees Hilgers when they appear against Japan and Saudi Arabia in the 2026 World Cup qualification for the Asian zone, third round of Group C.

The player, who is currently playing for Dutch club FC Twente, did not join his colleagues in Jakarta in the Indonesia vs Japan match and chose to remain in the Netherlands and focus on recovery.

In his last match in the Eredivisie, Sunday (10/11/2024), Mees Hilgers was the main player when FC Twente held the elite Dutch club to a 2-2 draw. However, he was replaced by Sweden’s Gustaf Lagerbielke in the 84th minute.

PSSI said they had bought tickets for Mees Hilgers to fly to Indonesia. However, he did not fulfill the call of Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong and chose to focus on healing his injury.

Even though they lost the 23 year old defender, the Indonesian national team received additional strength in the back line because Kevin Diks was allowed by FIFA to defend squad Garuda after being sworn in as an Indonesian citizen.

The certainty that Kevin Diks could play in the Indonesia vs Japan national team match was announced by PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir. The match will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (15/11/2024) at 19.00 WIB.

“Thank God, Kevin Diks is finally certain to be able to play for the Indonesian National Team when the Garuda Squad hosts Japan on November 15 2024,” said Erick Thohir.

It is predicted that the composition of the Indonesian national team’s core players against Japan will change. The goalkeeper position will still be entrusted to Maarten Paes. The FC Dallas goalkeeper will be guarded by a back line consisting of Jay Idzes, Kevin Diks and Rizky Ridho.

In a 3-5-3 formation, the middle row will be entrusted to Calvin Verdonk, Sandy Walsh, Thom Haye and Ivar Jenner. Meanwhile, in the front row, Shin Tae-yong is likely to field Ragnar Oratmangoen, Rafael Struick, and Witan Sulaeman.

The Indonesian national team is predicted to face a very tough match against Japan. The reason is, the team coached by Hajime Moriyasu is strengthened by many players who have defended top European clubs, including Wataru Endo (Liverpool), Takumi Minamino (Monaco), Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad), and Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton and Hove Albion).

Prediction of the line-up for the Indonesian vs Japan national team:

Indonesia (3-5-3): Maarten Paes; Jay Idzes, Kevin Diks, Rizky Ridho; Calvin Verdonk, Sandy Walsh, Thom Haye, Ivar Jenner; Ragnar Oratmangoen, Rafael Struick, Witan Sulaeman
