Worldcoin, a digital identity project led by Sam Altman, creator of OpenAI, officially launched its protocol in Brazil on November 13th.
With this initiative, Brazil becomes one of the pioneering countries in adopting this technology, which seeks to guarantee anonymous humanity verification. The Worldcoin (WLD) cryptocurrency is the heart of the project, offering incentives to users who prove their humanity, in addition to enabling a safe and bot-free digital environment.
The Brazilian launch was attended by Rodrigo Tozzi, operations manager at Tools for Humanity (TFH), World’s partner. Tozzi highlighted the opening of more than 10 verification centers in São Paulo, equipped with the Orb, a device created to scan the iris and certify that the user is human.
According to Tozzi, the pilot phase had already been carried out in several countries, but now the project is in official operation. “The official launch in Brazil marks a new stage and allows Worldcoin to expand into one of the largest digital markets in the world,” he stated.

To carry out the verification, the user needs to download the World App, which offers a digital wallet and allows scheduling for the process. After validation, each user receives approximately 53 WLD tokens, of which 25 are released within 48 hours, while the remainder are distributed monthly over 12 months. This rewards model is a Worldcoin strategy to attract users, encouraging adherence to the platform.
The World app offers an easy conversion from WLD to reais, with direct transfer to Brazilian bank accounts via PIX. This aspect facilitates the use of cryptocurrency in everyday life and expands its usefulness in the country.
For Tozzi, the objective is to democratize access to cryptocurrency and offer an inclusive digital financial alternative. Furthermore, there are plans to expand the operation to other cities in Brazil, although there are no defined dates.
In terms of innovation, Worldcoin proposes several solutions for the digital environment, including the use of WorldID, a digital credential that ensures that only verified humans access certain platforms.
This feature is already being developed for use in video conferences, preventing bots or deepfakes from compromising interaction between real people. Applications like this target sectors such as gaming and social networks, where the presence of bots is a recurring problem.
The company also announced a partnership in the testing phase in Argentina with Rappi, allowing Orb to go to users to carry out verification. According to Tozzi, this collaboration could expand to Brazil in the future, if the tests are successful.
