XL Axiata Trials Prepaid Card Registration Using Biometric Technology

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – XL Axiata brings prepaid card registration security to a higher level of security through biometric technology.

This innovation aims to provide convenience for customers. With biometric technology, XL Axiata customers can register prepaid cards using facial recognition technology.

XL Axiata tested the service at the XL Center Gandaria City, Jakarta, last Thursday, September 12.

Quoting XL Axiata’s statement, Sunday (15/9/2024), the trial process of prepaid card registration using facial recognition biometric technology was carried out under direct supervision by the Head of the Monitoring & Evaluation Team for Telecommunication Services and Customer Protection at Kominfo, Sumini.

This activity was also witnessed by the Director General of Postal and Informatics Organizers of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Director & Chief Enterprise Business and Corporate Affairs Officer of XL Axiata, Yessie D. Yosetya, and Director & Chief IT Digital Officer of XL Axiata, Rico Usthavia Frans.

“We hope this innovation can provide convenience, security, speed, and reduce the potential for data falsification or dual identities,” said Yessie.

He added that facial recognition technology has been widely used in various sectors, such as banking and security.

The public was again shocked by reports of 1.3 billion cellphone numbers and SIM card registration data allegedly leaked and traded on online forums. The data allegedly came from the Ministry of Communication and Information.
