When the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, joked about his reluctance to have a digital wife

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Menkominfo Budi Arie Setiadi said that one of the focuses of his work as Menkominfo is on the development of digital ecosystems.

The man who previously served as Deputy Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration said he supports digital innovation in the country.

Budi Arie Setiadi doesn’t want Indonesia to just be a spectator in his own country, while technology is controlled by foreign companies such as Google to Amazon. According to him, a country that can compete is a country that wins and continues to innovate.

Starting from startups, cloud, blockchainsuntil artificial intelligence is something that the Indonesian people need to master, according to Budi Arie.

“The point is, we must interpret this digital era positively and anticipate it for the benefit of the common people,” said the Minister of Communication and Information when asked about startups and innovation after his Sertijab at the Kominfo Office, Jakarta, Monday (17/7/2023).

He supports innovation and everything in it, but in the middle of the press conference, Budi Arie joked that he rejects digital wives.

“I reject the most is a digital wife, don’t let your wife and husband become digital in the future, so you have to stay real because others must be digital, even if your boyfriend can be digital,” said Budi Arie, followed by laughter from the journalists.

Previously, in his remarks after the certificate, Budi Arie Setiadi said that after receiving directions from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, he realized that working at Kominfo was a tough task.

In fact, in a question and answer session with journalists after the certificate, Budi Arie said that after being told by the Secretary General of Kominfo Mira Tayyiba and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, the Menkominfo task was tough.

“The Kominfo has a hard task, the secretary general told me it’s already waduh, it’s also hard. Fortunately, the Deputy Minister helps, if he is a bit confused himself because he takes care of social media, and other things, all matters,” he said.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially reshuffled on Monday (17/07/2023). In this reshuffle, Jokowi appointed the Chairman of the Pro Jokowi Volunteers (ProJo) Budi Arie Setiadi as the new Minister of Communication and Information.
