Sanctioned by a 4-Year Ban from Playing Football, Paul Pogba Files an Appeal

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Paul Pogba has appealed after being banned from playing football for four years. The sanctions were imposed after test results showed doping use in mid-2023.

“In response to the sanctions announced today, I will take legal action by submitting an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport,” Pogba wrote on his Instagram account several hours after the sanctions decision was announced on Thursday (29/2/2024).

Pogba emphasized that the decision to sanction was not appropriate.

“I feel shocked, sad and hurt because all the achievements in my professional career are just at stake,” added the 30-year-old midfielder.

Pogba also emphasized that he never intentionally used supplements that violated anti-doping rules.

“As a professional athlete, I always obey the rules and never use prohibited substances to improve my performance. I have never insulted or cheated other athletes or fans of any team I play for or against,” said Pogba.

Pogba was banned from playing football for four years after being proven to have used doping in a test carried out last year.

Test results showed Pogba's body had increased levels of testosterone, a hormone that can affect muscle size and strength. Pogba, who turns 31 next month, will not be able to return to playing until 2028, when he will be 35.
