SEA Games 2023: Wushu Adds One Silver and One Bronze

After contributing one gold, the wushu branch again contributed two additional medals at the 2023 SEA Games.

Previously, the gold medal was won by Muhammad Daffa Golden Boy from the Jiangshu-Qiangshu Men’s joint number after packing Jiangshu’s highest score with 9.76 points. Previously, he also recorded a high of 9.65 points for Qiangshu.

“What is certain is that I dedicate this first gold to my family, PB WI management, and the Indonesian people who have prayed for it. Hopefully later we can contribute gold from wushu again,” Daffa said when met at Chroy Changvar Convention Center Phnom Penh.

After that, Edgar Xavier Marvelo won silver in the men’s combined Daoshu-Gunshu after scoring Daoshu 9.68 points and Gunshu 9.69 points. His teammate, Seraf Naro (Dhaoshu 9.68 and Gunshu 9.69) won the bronze medal

The Secretary General of PB WI Ngatino said that Edgar should have won gold. He said the value given to the Singapore athlete for the Gunshu number was too conspicuous.

“Value is a little low fair,” said Coach Taolu Achmad Hulaefi.

The same thing was also said by Edgar who said the value obtained by the opponent was too flashy. “But, never mind. Maybe it’s not my fortune,” said Edgar when asked for a comment.

With these results, the Indonesian Wushu National Team has supplied the Indonesian contingent with one gold, three silver and one bronze.

“There is still a Taolu number match tomorrow. Hopefully we can add another gold medal,” said Indonesian Wushu National Team Manager Iwan Kwok.
