Crypto Adoption in Argentina Soars

Previously, the Republican Party showed its support for crypto assets. This was seen in the release of the GOP 2024 Platform by the Republican National Committee ahead of this year's US elections.

The platform has taken several stances that align with Donald Trump’s “America First” policies rather than traditional GOP social issues. This includes a specific policy dedicated to protecting Bitcoin and crypto, an industry that has been particularly aligned with Trump this year.

The party’s dedication to crypto is included in chapter 3 of its platform, which promises to build the largest economy in history by championing innovation in digital assets.

“Republicans will end the Democrats’ unlawful and un-American crackdown on crypto and oppose the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC),” the party wrote, as quoted by Cryptopotato, Tuesday (9/7/2024).

The GOP platform also promises to defend the rights of citizens to mine their own Bitcoin, keep their own crypto, and to ensure all Americans can transact free from government oversight and control.

While not yet a sure thing, the Republican platform marks the Republican Party’s first formal endorsement of crypto as part of its long-term agenda, joining presidential candidate Donald Trump’s support for the sector.

Throughout this year, Trump has vowed to protect the Bitcoin mining industry and stop anti-crypto senator Elizabeth Warren and her ilk from touching citizens’ crypto assets.

He also vowed to free Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the defunct Bitcoin darknet market Silk Road, who was sentenced to life in prison.
