Fulfilling Ancelotti’s Wish, Real Madrid Extends Mendy’s Contract

Real Madrid’s left-back situation has been a source of concern in recent months. Alphonso Davies has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. However, it appears that deal will be put on hold until 2025, when the Canada international will be a free agent.

That means Ferland Mendy will remain first choice, despite not being a figure that convinces some of the Real Madrid hierarchy. However, Carlo Ancelotti really likes him. In recent weeks, he has been pushing the French defender to sign a new contract.

His current contract expires next summer, along with Davies’ contract at Bayern Munich. Ancelotti’s wish has been granted, as Brand reported that Real Madrid have agreed a new contract with Mendy.

The defender, who joined Real Madrid from Lyon, has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him in the Spanish capital until 2027. Mendy arrived in 2019 and has proven his ability by leading Real Madrid to 3 La Liga titles and 2 Champions Leagues.

The 29-year-old defender will remain a key figure on the left side of defence The Whites at least the next 12 months.
