Growing 354%, Indonesia’s Crypto Transaction Value Reaches IDR 301 Trillion as of June 2024

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The crypto asset industry in Indonesia continues to show significant growth. The Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) released the latest data showing the rapid growth of the crypto asset industry in Indonesia.

Bappebti recorded growth in transaction value and number of crypto asset customers throughout the first semester of 2024. Based on Bappebti data, the value of crypto asset transactions in the period from January to June 2024 reached a fantastic figure, namely IDR 301.75 trillion.

This figure shows a growth of 354.17% compared to the same period in the previous year, which was IDR 66.44 trillion. Meanwhile, despite adjustments last May, the number of registered crypto asset customers until June 2024 has now reached 20.24 million customers, with an average growth of around 430,500 customers per month since February 2021.

Head of the Commodity Futures Trading Development and Development Bureau of Bappebti, Tirta Karma Senjaya, said that the growth in the number of customers shows that Indonesian people are increasingly aware of and interested in the potential of crypto asset investments.

Bappebti remains optimistic about positive growth until the end of the year. This is in line with the increasing public enthusiasm for crypto assets.

“We remain optimistic that public enthusiasm will continue to increase. We hope that the transaction value and number of customers throughout 2024 will be higher compared to the previous year,” Tirta said in an official statement, quoted Friday (7/26/2024).
