New Instagram feature, can be live specifically for close friends

Not only does it limit Live Instagram to Close Friends, this application made by Meta adds a new feature that allows users to limit interactions with IG accounts (anyone) that are not included in the Close Friend list.

Meta named this feature Limited Interaction. Quoted from GizchinaMonday (3/6/2024), if this feature is activated, the user will receive a reminder asking the user to turn off this feature within a certain period of time.

After that, this feature gives users control to limit interactions from recent followers, or IG accounts that do not follow the user. This new feature also allows users to limit accounts without needing to block them.

With this new Instagram feature, accounts that are not included in the Close Friend list will not see the user's online status or when the user reads their messages.

Not only that, their messages will not appear in the DM inbox, but will be moved to Message requests.

New comments on posts will only be visible to users and those who are not on the Close Friends list. When trying to tag or mention a user, they will see a message saying user does not allow everyone to tag you.

Please remember, when this feature is activated, followers (IG accounts) who are not on the Close Friend list can still interact with user posts. However, their comments and messages will not be visible to other people, nor to the account owner.

Meta says this feature is intended for young people who want to limit themselves to other people they don't necessarily know. However, this feature can be accessed by all users.
