New York Stock Exchange NYSE Considers Presenting Crypto Exchange

Previously, in a recent announcement, Intercontinental Exchange, Inc (ICE), owner of the New York Stock Exchange and many other global exchanges, invested in the crypto company, tZERO.

However, ICE is not the only investor, as other companies also participated in tZERO's fundraising. Strategic investments in blockchain and digital asset liquidity providing companies have enabled ICE to become a minority shareholder.

However, no further plans have been determined before or after this investment by the two companies. ICE clarified that the investment has no impact on the company's capital return plans.

The only change specified by ICE is that their current Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and management team member, David Goone, will join tZERO as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

“David's leadership and mastery of trading, data, and clearing technology will be a great asset as tZERO begins its next chapter leading the growth and adoption of the next generation of market infrastructure,” said ICE Chairman and CEO, Jeff Sprecher, quoted from Yahoo Finance, Sunday (6/ 3/2022).

Apart from being CSO at ICE, David Goone has also been a board member at other ICE subsidiaries as well as a company representative at the Depository Trust Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), and the National Futures Association (NFA).

The investment steps taken by ICE in crypto companies increasingly show their interest in the crypto world. Previously, the New York Stock Exchange registered its trademark to create its own NFT marketplace.
