On the other hand, the Director General of Applications and Informatics of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, announced his resignation in front of journalists at a press conference at the Kominfo office, Thursday (4/7/2024).

The resignation of the man who is familiarly called Semmy is a form of his responsibility as the Director General who is responsible for digital transformation efforts in Indonesia, in this case related to the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) which was recently paralyzed due to being hit by ransomware.

“The reason (for my resignation) for this incident, however, is technically my responsibility as the Director General in charge of the digital transformation process of government technically,” said Semmy, in a press conference.

He further added, “I take this responsibility morally and I say this should be resolved by me. I should have resolved it well and am now recovering.”

According to him, he had expressed his resignation verbally since July 1. Furthermore, Semuel Abrijani submitted a letter of resignation to the Minister of Communication and Information yesterday (July 3, 2024).

Semmy also revealed the development of the Brain Cipher ransomware decryption key that has been provided by the group. hacker Lockbit 3.0.

Semmy said briefly that the decryption key had been technically tested to open files on PDNS that were previously locked by the Brain Cipher ransomware.

“We have tried, it was successfully opened, but because there are many locked ones, the process is still ongoing,” he concluded.
