Piauí Junino will have an investment of more than R$12 million; check out the main events – Cities on the Net

This Thursday, May 23, the Government of Piauí launched Piauí Junino 2024, at the Sulica Auditorium, at the headquarters of the Secretariat of Culture (Secult). In total, R$12.2 million will be invested to enhance popular culture throughout the state. Investments come through the State Cultural Incentive System (SIEC), Government of the State of Piauí, in addition to the cultural calendar and other departments.

During the launch, the main June events that will be held during the June period and which will carry the Piauí Junino seal were revealed. They are: Arraiá da Capitá (Teresina), Cidade Junina (Teresina), Arraiá dos Bairros (Teresina), Festival dos Cocais (São João do Arraial), São João (São João do Piauí) and São João da Esperança (Esperantina).

For Carlos Anchieta, Secretary of Culture, this is a time to value June tradition and culture.

“I thank Governor Rafael Fonteles for the opportunity for us to launch the Piauí Junino seal, which is a way of celebrating São João in the state, contemplating everything that happens from North to South with this seal”, he highlights.

Furthermore, 30 masters of culture were awarded scholarships ranging between R$1,000 and R$2,000 through the “Mestre Gregorinho” project. Five masters of culture were certified during the ceremony.

“It is a moment for the batuque culture of Velho Braz to be recognized. We have been hoping for years and today we are receiving this certificate of living heritage, a great victory”, reveals Valdomiro de Aquino, one of the representatives.

About the “Piauí Junino” label

The “Piauí Junino” seal brings together all June festivities covered by the State Cultural Incentive System (Siec) or sponsored directly by the State Government. This includes groups of oxen, reisados ​​and various festivals that enrich and keep alive the cultural traditions of Piauí.
