Prevent Illegal Trading, South Korea Launches Crypto Transaction Monitoring System

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) noted that crypto asset transactions in Indonesia have increased annually. Throughout 2024, crypto transactions reached IDR 211.1 trillion.

Chief Executive of the Financial Sector Technology Innovation Supervisory Agency, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets (IAKD) OJK Hasan Fawzi said that in the period of January-April 2024, the buying and selling of crypto assets showed a positive trend. In fact, there was an increase of more than 300 percent from 2023.

“The cumulative value of crypto asset transactions throughout 2024 has reached IDR 211.10 trillion, or recorded an increase of up to 328.63 percent compared to 2023,” said Hasan at the OJK Press Conference, Monday (10/6/2024).

He said, the development of crypto asset activities in Indonesia has its own dynamics. This includes being seen from the number of crypto investors and crypto transactions in Indonesia.

As of April 2024, the total number of crypto asset investors increased by 410 thousand investors to 20.16 million investors. Previously, in March 2024, there were 19.75 million investors.

“Placing Indonesia in seventh place as the country with the largest number of crypto asset investors in the world,” he said.

However, in the same period, monthly transactions decreased. This can be seen from the transaction amount in March 2024 of IDR 103.58 trillion. However, it had to drop to IDR 52.3 trillion in April 2024.
