Brain Cipher Keeps Promise to Give Decryption Key to PDN Admin, Here's Cyber ​​Observer's Explanation

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Brain Cipher ransomware group has kept its promise to provide the decryption key to the National Data Center (PDN). This information was conveyed by Vaksincom Cyber ​​Security Observer Alfons Tanujaya.

“Brain Cipher kept its promise to provide the decryption to PDN. Honestly, I was hesitant because it was almost past Wednesday. They have now released the decryption file,” said Alfons, Wednesday (3/7/2024) evening.

However, Alfons said, we need to ensure that the decryption file can actually decrypt all files in the PDN.

“So now I'm waiting for confirmation from the PDN team, whether it's true that the file provided by Brain Cipher can decrypt the data. If that's true, it means that all the data on the VMware (server) that was encrypted by them can now be recovered,” he added.

Alfons also asked PDN to properly protect Indonesian people's data, so that hacking (ransomware attacks) do not happen again.

“Please, PDN, take good care of this data, don't let it happen again. Please protect the data of the Indonesian people. We all have an interest and trust you to take good care of the data,” he appealed.

Alfons, who previously promised to send a donation to the Brain Cipher group if they actually provided the decryption key, confirmed that he would keep his promise.

“I will keep my promise to send the donation to Brain Cipher's monero account (Bitcoin account),” he added.

“Before making a donation, I will make sure that the key can indeed decrypt files encrypted by Brain Cipher. Waiting for information from friends at PDN,” he concluded.
