Visiting CCC, UNJ Explores Cooperation in Managing PSDKU Pencak Silat

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Jakarta State University (UNJ) Rector Komarudin accompanied by vice rectors I, II, III, IV and staff visited the Cugenang Community Center (CCC) in Talaga Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency, West Java. The activity was carried out as an effort to open up opportunities for cooperation in managing study programs outside the main campus (PSDKU) in the field of pencak silat.

In his remarks, the Chancellor said that UNJ is interested in collaborating with the Kinarya Didaktika Foundation (YKD) as the manager of CCC, an educational community center for the community around the community center location.

The UNJ Chancellor also appreciated YKD who had encouraged the idea for UNJ to open a special campus branch for the pencak silat education program in the complex that was previously a free school for gifted children from underprivileged backgrounds in Cianjur Regency.

Cianjur is known as one of the areas in West Java that has its own traditional pencak silat art.

“We (UNJ and YKD) have the same spirit, namely the spirit to advance our nation’s education. The outcome of this collaboration will be to establish a special PSDKU in the field of pencak silat. The PSDKU program was also known in other campuses before, for example ITB Cirebon Campus, Unesa Ngawi Campus, UB Jombang Campus, UPI Purwakarta Campus, and others,” said Komarudin in his statement, Friday (26/7/2024).

He explained, to run the PSDKU program, UNJ must cooperate with local universities in the area. For example, in Cianjur, the university is Surya Kencana University.

The PSDKU pattern is the most relevant because the scope of cooperation is wider, namely with local governments, local communities, foundations, and universities. With this cooperation, it is hoped that the benefits will be great and the sustainability will be longer.

Future development is not only pencak silat sports, it can develop into other study programs. This can meet the needs of the local community, not only Cianjur but also West Java,” continued Komarudin.

Chairman of the YKD HMBC Advisory Board, Rikrik Rizkiyana, said that the foundation as the manager of CCC assets welcomed UNJ’s plan to make the 1.2-hectare school complex a UNJ campus outside the city of Jakarta which would become a branch of UNJ’s special sports with a pencak silat study program.

“We dedicate this hermitage to be part of the PSDKU UNJ program. Hopefully it will provide benefits for all. In addition, the presence of this UNJ campus is also expected to be able to revive the economy of the community around the campus,” explained Rikrik.

The UNJ campus outside Jakarta with a concentration in pencak silat is expected to be operational next year.

Currently, both UNJ and YKD are still calculating what infrastructure must be met so that the campus can immediately start accepting new students according to the standards set by the government. In addition, UNJ and YKD will also conduct talent scouting to find the best prospective teachers or lecturers in this pencak silat study program.
