2024 U-23 Asian Cup Results Iraq vs Indonesia: Once Superior, Garuda Muda Failed to Win 3rd Place

Iraq blocked Indonesia's defense in the first five minutes of added time. Justin Hubner appeared straightforward in repelling the Iraqi attack.

Iraq's pressure finally resulted in a goal in the 96th minute. Ali Jassim received a long pass and fired a kick that went through Ernando Ari's legs.

Indonesia tried to respond immediately through Komang Teguh's header. Coach Shin Tae-yong then brought in Ramadhan Sananta to replace Witan Sulaeman.

Ali Jassim threatened Ernando Ari's goal again. Time was ticking, and the first half of extra time ended.

The second half of extra time begins. Iraq closed their ranks by withdrawing striker Amin Al-Hamawi who was replaced by defender Hussein Amer.

Indonesia immediately put pressure through long-range kicks from Marselino Ferdinan and Ivar Jenner. Unfortunately, both efforts have not borne fruit.

Iraq again brought in defenders through Karrar Saad and Halo Fayaq. Out came Muntadher Mohammed and Ali Jassim.

Shin Tae-yong tried to add energy by including Ikhsan Zikrak as a replacement for Ivar Jenner. The Indonesian U-23 national team was running out of time to equalize.

There is another three minutes of additional time. However, the national team was physically exhausted and failed to equalize until the end of the match. The last chance was obtained by Ramadhan Sananta who saw his header thrown away by an Iraqi defender.
