Absent Euro 2024, Real Madrid Stars Still Have an Important Role in the Austrian National Team

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Austrian national team, managed by former Manchester United and RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick, must face a tough challenge at Euro 2024 in the absence of one of the best players in their history, namely David Alaba.

The appearance at this summer's tournament marks the fourth time Austria has appeared in the European Cup finals, three in a row.

After a disappointing performance in 2016, Austria managed to progress to the last 16 at Euro 2020, where they were defeated by eventual champions Italy. With this achievement, Austria also deserves to be watched out for by other contestants.

Unfortunately, they lost captain David Alaba. He suffered an ACL injury while playing for Real Madrid in mid-December.

This injury meant Alaba missed more than 30 important matches for Real Madrid, which ultimately won La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup. Alaba is only expected to be able to play at the start of next season, making it impossible for this versatile player to appear at Euro 2024.
