Attending Summit in Dubai, Indian PM Narendra Modi Invites Global Management on Crypto and AI

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – While attending the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for the creation of a global protocol that can manage Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and cryptocurrencies.

In his speech on the final day of the summit, PM Narendra Modi called for a unified platform for governments to face the growing threats posed by rapid technological advancement and beyond.

Modi's remarks came a day after Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI – the company behind ChatGPT pushed for a global AI surveillance system.

“I believe the government should interfere as little as possible in people's lives, the government's job is to ensure this,” said Narendra Modi in his speech, quoted from The National, Thursday (15/2/2024)

With more than 1.3 billion people, India now has digital identities linked to bank accounts and mobile phones, Narendra Modi's own government has introduced a crackdown on corruption with more transparency in financial transactions.

“Developing global protocols can overcome the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies,” Modi said.

“We must listen to the voices of the countries of the South, highlight their priorities and share our resources and capabilities with countries in need,” he said.

“By following these principles, we can not only solve the challenges facing our governments, but also strengthen universal brotherhood. It is this spirit that we promoted during our leadership of the G20. We move forward with the motto: One earth, one family, one time future,” said Modi.
