CoFTRA and Ministry of Finance Sit Together Again to Discuss Crypto Tax, Will It Go Down?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Acting Head of the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti) of the Ministry of Trade, Kasan, again emphasized the need for an evaluation of the implementation of crypto taxes.

The reason, said Kasan, is that a number of crypto entrepreneurs have asked the government to review the imposition of crypto taxes.

“I think regulations related to taxation also still need to continue to be improved and perfected, because we have received several responses from friends in business actors,” he said in a series of activities for the 2024 Crypto Literacy Month in Jakarta, Thursday (2/5/ 2024).

Bappebti, continued Kasan, has submitted a request to the Ministry of Finance regarding crypto tax policy. So far, two meetings have been held between CoFTRA and the Ministry of Finance.

“So that's one thing we've been written to, and we've also been invited to a meeting to discuss taxation in industry, one of which is the crypto industry,” said Kasan.

“Actually, friends at the Directorate General of Taxes and BKF discussed not only the crypto industry, but taxation in the financial sector which must be one. That is what is currently under discussion. So we have only had two meetings invited by friends from the Ministry of Finance,” he said.

However, Kasan cannot yet determine when this crypto tax evaluation will produce final results. “In terms of targets, there may not be exact targets yet. But what is clear is that this is a matter of coverage of the tax sector, one of which is,” he stressed.
