Fulham Extends Brazilian Willian’s Contract

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Fulham have extended Brazilian winger Willian’s one-year contract at the English capital club.

Willian’s contract, now 34, with Fulham expired earlier this summer and he is expected to join another Premier League club, Nottingham Forest.

However, Willian has decided to return to Fulham on a contract that can be extended for up to 12 months.

“I’m very happy. I’m happy to be able to continue the work I did last season with my team-mates and the whole club,” said Willian as quoted from Fulham’s official website.

Willian made a significant contribution in helping Fulham finish in 10th place last season.

“I’m sure this club can do even better this season, so I’m excited to continue this incredible adventure,” he added.

Fulham Deputy Chairman and Director of Football, Tony Khan, also expressed his delight at having Willian’s services returned.

“I am delighted that Willian will be back at Fulham for at least one more season. He was a very important addition last summer and made a significant contribution in one of the most successful outings our club has ever undertaken in the Premier League,” said Khan.

Willian first joined Fulham on the final day of last season’s transfer window. He made his debut as a substitute in Fulham’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur two days later.

Assists his first for Fulham came in the next game, when they won 3-2 at home to Nottingham Forest. Then, he scored his first goal for Fulham and was the winner as they beat Leeds United by the same score a month later.

Willian, who has won 70 caps for Brazil, ended last season with five goals and six assists in his 27 Premier League appearances.
